my strow hobgood http://rtoot.org i don't like the new guestbook either. i can't read the antispam characters half the time, and besides i can't make comments on the comments except by signing the next entry in the guestbook which is what i'm doing now.
assuming i get the anti-spam characters right.

My feelings are Really completely Really hurt. After all I Really gave your conductor a Really fancy Really new title, His Most Royal and Reverent Kick-Azz Pi-annie Plunker, Snady Hobgood! I Really am not listed as a Really Bad Listener. I can Really listen Really badly. I Really have all kinds of ring tones on my cellphone too. Really!

Morning!
Just a friend of a friend of a friend, not qualified for even a RTO (tone deaf, demoted to third assistant triangle in kindergarten as I recall).
Anyway, best of luck!

Grew up in CH, now I live on the coast, and my people came from a little north of Edinburgh, Scotland. I play the spoons, good thing I'm far away.
We need a CD. Ya'll go on.

Looking forward to hearing you play some funky "rha-POO-dies" and "SNOT-ahs" at Severance Hall in Cleveland, Oh.

Mike Milvain
All the best from St. Petersburg. Come on down and play at the Mahaffey Theater!!!

I'd rather hear bad music played by good people than good music played by bad people.

I'm a violist by training but I've recently been interested in learning to play violin. More importantly, learning to read treble clef and getting used to the smaller size of the instrument. I don't currently own a violin, but as soon as I can find a cheap one somewhere, I would love to hear about auditions.

Deedee Grummett
Hi Sandy! It's great to see you have so much going on! I can't wait to hear what RTOOT will turn out. Hope you're doing well. We miss you!

Denica W. Joyce
How delightful! I love music and love to make music. I look forward to hearing more when your group gets together.

Anna
looking forward to hearing really terrible music! perfection is so boring...

Lindsay Grummett
Do you have a section for banjoes? It has strings, and I believe would fit perfectly with your other bad string players. Miss you Sandy! Buzz is so proud!

Duke Rumley
Sounds like great fun - I can't wait to hear the CD

When asked in an interview to explain the difference between a violin and a fiddle, Alison Krauss once replied, "Some people say tomatO, some people say tomatOE, some people say 'mater". With this inspiration in mind, I could play a fiddle in your string section....badly.
If I don't make the cut, then perhaps I could run your sound board? I've never done it, but I know someone who does professionally. Might this qualify me?
Best of luck! Sandy, only you could pull this off.

There must be a Carnegie Hall workshop for this type of orchestra. Watch out Leonard Slatkin! Onward and upward, Sandy!

I played violin years ago, and would love to be a part of your symphony Sandy! Please let me know when auditions are!

I would like to be considered for the cello section also. I come highly recommended by my teacher, Jane Salemson, who is very aware that my sense of humor supercedes my sense of intonation.

An April Birthday Limerick --
There once was a fellow named Sandy,
Whose naughty demeanor was randy.
He turned sixty-three,
And it seems to me,
This old bird's surely a dandy!
The grey-tufted Hobgood's been seen,
Behind the old organ machine.
His song is delirious--
Not at all serious--
And his late-night warbles obscene!

Lyn Francisco
Mr. Hobgood, I presume? Well, considering I've been suffering from laryngitis since 30 March, I suppose I could sing quite badly at this point. And you know what they say about sopranos: they can't count. So count me in for playing percussion, badly.

Isidor Saslov
About 50 years ago I studied the trombone in my high school back in Detroit. That might be just the thing for your orchestra. The last time I performed on it, about 20 years ago, they could almost tell what it was I was playing. Problem is, Texas is an awfully long commute! Send me a CD of your next performance complete with cellphones. Good luck. Isidor Saslav, concertmaster for Tonu Kalam in Longview TX.

My musical talents don't even rise to the level of really terrible. Save me a seat in the terrible listeners' section, but only if the perfomance is as amusing as the website. Bonne chance!

what a wonderful idea. your great aunt would be so proud of you. you have tax expertise in the family that can help with your 501c3 aspirations, just remember there is a difference between not-for-profit, and not-profitable, but the tax impact is the same.

Jonathon Hiam
This is great because I am a really terrible listener! Best of luck.

Dearest Sandy,
It would be an honor to lend my incompetence to such a terrible ensemble.
I am thrilled to be a part of this collective.
Bravo, Sandy. What a fabulous idea! And I applaud your guts! I recently prepared and submitted the necessary IRS paperwork to apply for 501c3 status for TABLE. Dreadful! Really Dreadful! But I might know a short cut for RTOOT so perhaps contact me when you have a chance. Good luck! Joy MacVane

Tonu Kalam
You have so many celebrity endorsements which are a hard act to follow. I will look forward to the debut of this landmark ensemble -- a sign that the Triangle is truly becoming cosmopolitan in every respect!

Susan Moeser
Mum is the word on any instruments I used to play! Good luck.

Is this for real? I could play clarinet or trombone.

Very nice idea. The Sour Sitrus Society was (is?) the basketball band at Syracuse University. It was (is?) a student run pep band for the basketball team. I ran the band in '78 and '79. I remember a meeting we had that lasted hours trying to decide whether we would emphasize musical excellence in the band or not. We decided not too

THis is a wonderful opportunity for hilarity! (I only wish I was around, and could make a sound out of a trumpet...I would love to join!) My one qualm is that I think your cello section is too good - perhaps they should become violists?

Now I'm really sorry my mother gave away my violin 45 years ago. As soon as things settle down with house renovations we will call. Thank you for letting me know of this exciting project you've started.

Well, Sandy, this is the second I have attempted to write a comment. Maybe I should play the computer in the RTO. I'm very bad at that. I'll bet you could find a keyboard piece, I could make a real mess of. Keep up the hilariously good work.

Gladess Crisp
Sandy, nothing you do can be terrible. I expect to be attending a concert soon. Gladess

Joy Boyette
I look forward to attending the first RTOOT performance as my musical talents are limited to "listening." Best of luck...

If W. Sands Hobgood has something to do with the Really Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle, it will be wonderful and hilarious.

If you ever decide to perform the Poulenc organ concerto, I hope you'll think of me. I'm quite sure that I could do a really bad job of it.
|

Florence Peacock, Diva Soprano
Congratulations to W. Sands Hobgood, my favourite conductor of the triangle (except possibly for Grant Lewellyn who is such a hunk, IMHO).
I would like to volunteer to be the resident RTOOT soprano.
|
|
Sam Gingher, Pianist
Haha, this is hilarious. I would definitely like to audition if I was in the area, any wind or stringed instrument and I think I'd fit right in!
|

Elisabeth Allore
Can't wait to hear the really terrible offerings from RTOOT!

This site is very nice!! I am quite impressed with it. I like how you explained each section so that everyone can be well informed about what exactly they play. I wish you, Sandy, best of luck with this wonderful idea, leaving no gap between professional and forgotten musicians of the triangle!!!

Ayako Theresa Nakano
hi! all the way from japan!
i wish i could be there to play in it since my violin playing has become absolutely terrible, but best of luck and please keep me updated on events!
|
|
john lambert http://cvnc.org Sandy, have you taken leave of your senses?? With so many truly awful orchestras here already, do you think we need yet another one? Ah, what shall we do with you?
I will put a link in CVNC under -- well, i'm not sure under what ...
If you do any "public acts" please tell me so we can warn people to stay away

Ah, sounds like a worthy assemblage! Peter Schickele and Spike Jones would be proud!

I am so impressed that this group has been formed by His Most Royal and Reverent Kick-Azz Pi-annie Plunker, Snady Hobgood! Snady is such a, uh, wow, I probably shouldn't type that. Can't wait to see you perform. I hate symphony music in general so I'm sure I'll love your presentations! Break a leg!
|
|
Tim Baker
Surely this group will have the Peter Schickele seal of approval.
|
|
Kathy Craddock
I love it! I'm forwarding this to all my friends in the hopes that we have a gig by this time next year. I'll bet there are loads of folks out there who would love to join us! I'd like to request music that features windchimes. I would like to play, badly, those. KC
|
|
Josh Starmer
I wonder if John Cage would consider the really terrible performance an improvement.
|
|
Von Cole
I never cease to be amazed at the entertainment offered in the Triangle! (May I play that instrument if I'm not bad enough at handbells?) I look forward to hearing terrible things from the group in the near future.

You are a cool guy Sandy. You have both my dad's and my endorsement.

Thank you, Sandy for making music accessible to all of us not as gifted as yourself and mostly for understanding that while we may not have the gift, we do have the love. Can't wait to get started!
